Spring (Texas) Dekaney running back Trey Williams had originally told officials with the U.S. Army All-American Bowl that he would announce his commitment during the game in early January. It would be on a national stage and the perfect chance to both showcase his skills and garner some attention.

However, Williams and Klein (Texas) Forest quarterback Matt Davis went a long way back with each other and had even talked about what it would be like to play together in college.
