Coming out of Ralston Valley, Colorado native [db]Pierce Hornung[/db] wasn't exactly the most highly sought after recruit. He averaged a solid 19 points, 11 rebounds and five assists per game as a senior, but Colorado State was the only division one school to offer him a scholarship.

Considered small for his position at 6-foot-5, coaches thought Hornung lacked the skill to play small forward and was too short to play power forward. But all he needed was an opportunity.
