Getting to Know: Danny Nwosu
GoldandGreenNews.com kicks off its 'Getting to Know the Class of 2012' feature, in which fans can get an in-depth look at the signees from Jim McElwain's inaugural class at Colorado State. The first player we are featuring in the series is Washington D.C. Dunbar standout athlete Daniel Nwosu.
What sold you on Colorado State?
Danny Nwosu: "The outlook and the plan that the coaches had was great, and I'm excited with how they said they were going to use me."
What impressed you the most about Coach McElwain?
"I know he's a winner. He plans on winning, he's a competitor, he's a great coach, and a great guy."
What was your favorite part of your official visit to Fort Collins?
"It was nice getting to meet some of the coaches and players. I like the area around there, too."
What specifically will you bring to the Colorado State football program?
"Personally, I think I bring leadership skills, a competitive nature, and I hope I'm one of the missing pieces that can come in and help them win."
What makes you so special as a player?
"I'm a competitor. I think my athleticism allows me to play either side of the ball and just dominate."
What do you need to work on to get better?
"There's a lot of stuff I can work on because you can never be too strong or too fast. I'd like to work on getting stronger and faster because I know there's going to be a new level of competition."
What has been your most memorable moment in your football career?
"Probably the Turkey Bowl this past season because that was my first high school championship."
Most embarrassing moment in football?
"In Pop Warner we lost a game we probably should have won, 27-25. So, I'd probably say that Pop Warner game."
Favorite player of all time?
"Right now, I'd say Demarcus Ware, just because of the way he dominates the game."
What will you major in?
"I read, play sports with friends, and I like watching Sports Center."
"Remember the Titans and Coach Carter. Either one of those."
Do you have a celebrity crush?
"I can't think of one right now. I feel like I have a couple, (laughing) I just can't think of them right now."
Do you have any nicknames?
"Most people just call me Danny, so I guess that's my nickname."
Do you play any other sports?
"Right now I'm about to start up track."
Any other special talents?
"I've got a lot of talents. I'm good at basketball besides football, and I'm pretty good at video games too."
What's your message for Ram fans?
"Just that I'm going to come in and play hard to help the team win."
