3-star Illinois TE is a Ram

Colorado State picked up another big time out-of-state commitment Saturday afternoon when Saint Charles (Ill.) North tight end Griffin Hammer announced on Twitter his intentions to sign with the Rams.

Hammer was in Fort Collins over the weekend on an unofficial visit. The 6-foot-5, 231-pounder was boarding a flight back to Illinois when GoldandGreenNews.com reached out for comment on his decision.

"I just felt at home there," Hammer said in a message to GGN. "Plus the support I have with the people there and the new facilities going in, it was a no-brainer to me."

Hammer's lead recruiter is CSU safeties and special teams coach Jamie Bryant. The lengthy pass-catcher, rated a three-star tight end by Rivals.com, accumulated offers from Ball State, Colorado State, Eastern Michigan, Illinois, Miami (OH), Toledo, Western Michigan, and Wyoming.

As a junior, Hammer caught 34 passes for 426 yards and five touchdowns. Stay tuned to GGN, as we will have much more on Griffin and his commitment to the Rams.
