Clark goes Green and Gold

Rams head coach Mike Bobo preached the importance of adding speed to his football roster after the season. Bobo added one piece to that puzzle when offensive playmaker Detrich Clark committed to CSU.

Clark announced his commitment over Twitter on Saturday afternoon.

Clark, a multi-positional star for Eastern Arizona Community College, is expected to play slot receiver at CSU, but excelled as a running quarterback, receiver, kick returner, and running back in junior college.

He is another JUCO commit that played his prep ball in Georgia, joining EAC teammate A'Keitheon Whitner.

Clark tripped to New Mexico on Jan. 15 and was in Fort Collins for his CSU official visit last weekend. He was slated to visit Southern Miss this weekend, yet due to USM head coach Todd Monken's departure to the NFL's Buccaneers, Clark did not make that trip.

Prior to taking his trip to CSU, Clark hinted that the Rams' new offer two weeks ago had piqued his interests.

“Coach Bobo broke the news about the offer, so I was really excited about that," Clark told GoldandGreenNews.com. "He just explained to me that he realized I was a playmaker. He said if I were to come there, they would get the ball in my hands and let me make plays.”

Arkansas State, Georgia Southern, New Mexico and Southern Miss also offered the 5-foot-10, 180-pound athlete. He has reported running several sub-4.3 hand-timed forties.

Clark's versatility was showcased this last fall as he played mostly quarterback for EAC. The 5-foot-10, 180-pounder passed for 450 yards and rushed for 1,019 yards and 10 touchdowns.

He will have three years to play two at CSU and is expected to compete for immediate starting time at slot receiver and as a kick returner. Clark gives CSU 19 known commitments for the 2016 recruiting class.
