Eikmeier leads Rams to easy win

Fort Collins, Colo. - Junior guard Wes Eikmeier led CSU with 25 points, and forward Pierce Hornung returned to action for the first time in more than a month, as the Rams defeated Texas Southern 85-61 Monday night at Moby Arena.
Hornung, who had 7 points, 11 rebounds, and 3 assists in 21 minutes of action, came in leading the team with 7.3 rebounds per game. Although Colorado State committed 15 turnovers, Hornung's hustle and moxie provided the ignition for CSU to pull away from the get go.

Texas Southern shot just 38 percent from the field and 13 percent from the three point line in the first half, yet refused to make halftime adjustments to get the ball inside. The Tigers finished the game 4-20 from behind the arc.
Eikmeier finished the contest 9-14 from the field, while Dorian Green chipped in with 15 points. Forward Greg Smith and senior guard Kaipo Sabas both finished in double figures as well, scoring 13 points and 10 points, respectively.
Colorado State ended the contest with a field goal percentage of 51 percent, going 44 percent from three-point land. With the win, the Rams snapped a two-game losing skid and improved to 6-4 on the year.
CSU travels just down the road to Greeley for their next contest, taking on in-state foe Northern Colorado on Thursday. Tip-off is set for 7 pm MST.
