Colorado State comes out strong in RMS
Not to say it was a tough first half for the Colorado Buffs offensively, but its best run of the first 30 minutes came just after the second quarter ended and a streaker wearing nothing but a Black and Gold stocking cap ran the length of the field.
It was the lone highlight of a first half that ended with the Colorado State Rams up 20-3 over their cross-state rivals in Boulder.

It was a first half that saw Colorado State hold the Buffs to just four first downs and 24 plays. By contrast, the Rams posted 38 plays and rushed for 126 yards in the first half. CSU quarterback Grant Stucker, starting the first game of his five-year career in Fort Collins had an impressive first half connecting on 5-of-9 passes for 138 yards and one interception. Leonard Mason and John Mosure backed that up with 53 and 44 yards in the first half respectively.
Colorado State started the game like a house on fire, picking up 11 yards on their first play from scrimmage when Grant Stucker's safety outlet pass found John Mosure for a first down. Two plays later Stucker put the Rams into the Red Zone for the first time with a 57-yard pass to a wide open Dion Morton. Two Mosure runs later the Rams were on the scoreboard with a 7-0 lead.
The Rams continued to roll up the yardage and the points throughout the first quarter, collecting 43 yards on the ground - 27 of those coming on the legs of Leonard Mason. After running the ball for six of the drive's first nine plays, Stucker finished the drive with a 19 yard touchdown completion to Mosure. The drive was the last for the Rams which out-gained Colorado 138-42 in the first frame.
Stucker and the Rams running game continued to move the ball to get the second quarter underway. After a 16-yard Mosure run to start the drive, Stucker hooked up with Senior Ryan Gardner for a 43-yard pass to bring the Rams inside the CU five yard-line. Part of what Gardner gave, he returned to the Buffs with an unsportsmanlike penalty, taking the ball back to the CU 19-yard line. Three Mosure runs for eight yards later Ben DeLine ended the drive with a 29-yard field goal to make the score Colorado State 17-0.
Colorado finally got itself on the board in the second quarter as they parlayed a Elijah Blue-Smith pass interference call and 15 yards passing into a 54-yard field goal by Aric Goodman. The Rams answered with a seven-play, 53-yard drive, which put Ben DeLine in range for a 45-yard field goal. DeLine's kick was true and the Rams went into the halftime up 20-3.
