After completing a five-year, $11 million extension with Under Armour in December, the Colorado State football program finally revealed its new uniforms to players Tuesday night and to the public Wednesday morning during the team's Training Camp Live stream.
The uniforms, which are "custom-fit" as a part of the school's new deal with Under Armour, offer a slight variation from the previous threads.
Instead of white pants with the away, white uniforms, CSU will don gold pants with a green "Rams" patch on the thigh pad.
The Rams' green home uniforms have the option of either green or gold pants, and have the same "Rams" patch on the thigh. For both jerseys, the colored patch on the shoulder has been replaced by a "boned-out" Ram horn and feature new font for the team name and jersey number.
No alterations were made to the team's helmets.
The school, previously in partnership with Russell Athletic, signed a deal with Under Armour in 2013 which gave them $100,000 of merchandise per year in its previous agreement with the Maryland-based sports apparel company. The school could then buy more merchandise from the company at a discounted rate, which CSU athletic director Joe Parker said cost the school about $1 million per year.
Under the new deal, Under Armour will provide CSU with $2.2 million in apparel per year over the next five years, totaling $11 million. Instead of the "off-the-rack" uniforms and apparel, CSU will work in cooperation with Under Armour to design its uniforms, starting with the recently unveiled football gear. The team unveiled new home and away uniforms, and will have the option to design new alternate orange uniforms as a tribute to the school's time as Colorado A&M, as well as one other alternate uniform over the next three years.
Walk-ons Eric Williams Robert Ruiz, both seniors, were awarded scholarships Tuesday night during the uniform reveal, as well.
