Colorado State added another name to the quarterback competition for next season. Head coach Mike Bobo announced over Twitter the addition of Georgia graduate transfer Faton Bauta.
The former Rivals.com three-star rated quarterback will have one season of eligibility at CSU.

Bauta became a target for CSU two weeks ago when Georgia first announced it had released him from his scholarship, per Bauta's request. He was again slated to back up Greyson Lambert, who, ironically, was courted by CSU last year when he announced he was transferring from Virginia.
A former prep star at West Palm Beach (Fla.) Dwyer, Bauta started just one game in his Georgia career, a 27-3 loss to Florida this year. The redshirt-junior threw no touchdowns and four interceptions in the loss.
Over his three-year Georgia career, Bauta passed for 202 yards on 19 of 38 passing, with no touchdowns and four interceptions. Buata, a prep running back and linebacker until his senior year, also rushed for 50 yards as a reserve quarterback for the Bulldogs, including a pair of late scores in a 66-0 blowout win over Troy in 2014.
The 6-foot-3, 215-pounder will have one season of eligibility in Fort Collins. A December graduate, Bauta will enroll for classes at CSU in January and participate in spring ball.
He is expected to compete for the starting job in the spring with incumbent Nick Stevens, a second team all-Mountain West selection in his first year starting.
Sources initially informed GoldandGreenNews.com that the Rams were in pursuit of a transfer quarterback in early November. Those sources confirmed that CSU first targeted junior college transfer Richard Lagow and Kentucky graduate transfer Patrick Towles.
Both quarterbacks took official visits to CSU for the December 4 recruiting weekend. Lagow eventually committed to Indiana the following Monday. Towles took an official visit to Boston College December 9-10 and ultimately committed to BC early Friday afternoon.
Bauta received an in-home visit from Mike Bobo on Wednesday, December 9. Sources also confirmed with GGN that Bauta was a heavy lean to CSU prior to taking an official visit to Fort Collins this past weekend. GGN confirmed Bauta's commitment to CSU on Thursday.
The news of Bauta's addition also comes just four days after Colorado State announced that second-string freshman quarterback Coleman Key will leave the program at the conclusion of the 2015 season.
An athletic pocket passer, Bauta was recruited to Georgia by Bobo in 2012 when Bobo was the offensive coordinator at UGA. His understanding of Bobo's offense and early enrollment could make for an interesting quarterback competition for a second year in a row for CSU.
